Betfair Forum
Love it or loathe it The Betfair Forum is a growing force in British
racing. In this section we reproduce some of the best threads of the
week. This week's offering from the Betfair Forum sees a discussion on the merits of tipsters.
Hope
Is anyone a member of a tipster service that actually is profitable and I
don't just mean they were profitable for the last few weeks. Are there
any that have show consistant profit over many years? Henry Rix says
it's had huge results for years is this true ? or is it a lie? Does
anyone on here use it?
Dr Crippen
No
Headhoncho
Do not pay or join any tipster services, they are all rip offs.........
Pringles
I resent those remarks, the word "all" is a generalisation
Pringles
If you want legal advice you seek out a reputable solicitor. If you want
to go on holiday you find the best deal using a travel agent. if you
want good advice on how to make a profit from the game you find a
reputable professional in horse racing. Just because there are
charlatans out there doesn't mean they all are.
Headhoncho
Prove me wrong Pringles ...do you want my e-mail address.
Pringles
No Honcho, that's not the way to do business. Of course there are bad
tipsters out there though just like there are bad doctors, bad
solicitors etc etc.
Turkish
Hope,
One of my mates subscribes to a site, they have had 3 out of 5 this
month so far (no odds on). Had a few unlucky months Dec/Jan but did well
prior to that.
Not a payer for tips myself, if you want the web address I can send you it.
Headhoncho
I do not want any addresses for tipsters I was merely asking Pringle to
prove me wrong.I personally have been a member of various tipping lines
etc,and all I was saying is that I have never found any of them to be
any good..........
Hope
What's the name of the site? Do you work for them?
Mtoto2
Lose money your own way instead of letting people profit from telling you how to lose.
Saurus
Leave well alone they are all dirty rip-offs.
Turkish
Hope, unfortunately I'm a nine to five office boy. Send me an email and
I'll let you know, as I said I don't want to spam on here.
Betfair Forum
Logically there must be some good tipping services. They can't all be
rip offs. Problem is finding one that works. Never use them myself.
Sitting Out
Heard of a great tipster called andyl. Not sure of his contact details
but should be easy to get hold of. Oh yes, forgot to mention it's a
laying service
Pringles
The way I see it is that those who come one and say 'All tipsters are
rip offs' have been themsleves victims of a poor service, how else would
they know? On hearsay - I very much doubt it. Most people on this
Betfair forum would have subscribed or rang a telephone tipster at some
point. The human tolerance level to failure is very low and thus when
you get your fingers burnt by someone who clearly doesn't know what they
are doing you spout it on forums to release your anger and frustration -
perfectly acceptable but using the word 'all' tipsters is innacurate
Mtoto2
You simply don't need them. Study, staking, system, price leads to
profit. Greed and chasing leads to the poor house which most people on
Betfair Forum seem to be like.
Pringles
agreed Mtoto2. However not everyone are in a position where they have
the time to put the work in so why not pay an expert to do it for them?
Mtoto2
Finding winners (should read a winning bet) is probably easier than finding a tipster you can trust.
Pringles
98% of people that use this forum do not have the knowledge, discipline
or large enough betting bank to succeed long term anyway. Slagging
'tipsters' off is the mugs way of making themselves feel better
Pringles
Agreed again Mtoto2. There are too many bad ones out there that spoil it
for the good ones and I myself have been subject to such ridicule
during the inevitable losing run.
Mtoto2
The problem is everyone wants a quick fix. a strike rate of 40 - 50 %
would in all probability would be amazing. but people would say 4 or 5
out of ten. Rubbish.
Jason1
Pringles, what is your service?
Pringles
I personally have lost 103,000 pounds on here in the last 3 months. My
service has had a terrible winter but is still well up on the year. If
someone joined me in November my name would be mud all over the place -
they don't understand the objectives or what is required to make a very
difficult game pay in the long term.
Turkish
98% is probably about right Pringles, I must admit as to not having the
betting bank to be bale to do this full time like I'd wish too, I don't
find discipline a problem, but as you say many do. Personally not a
subscriber to paying for tips, but if some people wish to, then each to
their own.
Don't see the point in people jumping off the wagon and slating both subscribers and tipsters.
Mtoto2
Good God Pringles. Now I know why you got upset when little upstarts
like myself take the mickey. I was gutted when I lost £100 on Cargo's
void race.
Parcelboy
Just had a letter today from Jumping prospects offering their Cheltenham and Aintree packages. Appreciate this is not strictly a tipping service but has anyone used it in previous years?
Zorro
Hope, there is one good laying site, very good......but if you think I'm
going to tell you, or anyone else for that matter - NO CHANCE, and nor
will anyone else ever tell you about anything that they have that is
good, why should they? After all we want the best possible odds for
ourselves, don't we? your best bet? easy, take no notice of the rubbish
on here and make your own mind up, be patient, every thing comes to
those who wait, and work.
Pringles
I know Mtoto2, it hurts I've gone from driving a porsche 911 to a golf diesel - that's the game.
Mtoto2
I haven't even got a bike.
Sitting Out
I gotta bike but keep finding the bloke next door riding her.
Captain Scarlett
Yes, there are some good ones.
Hopscotch
If you knew the winners, you would not need to tip. You would be too
rich to care (same as financial advisors if you think about it). Most of
them give ten different tips to twenty different people in each race,
of course one of them will think the tipster is the dogs. It's a numbers
game for them! DO NOT GO DOWN THIS PATH!!!
Read the form, watch the racing, ignore the commentators and tellly
tipsters , lay hyped horses and English teams/horses in international
events (i.e Engeeerland in any sport, and long term you will win). Look
for value and horses/ teams with the potential to surprise at good odds.
If the men on the telly say it's going to win then lay it. All those
mug punters follow the tipsters blindly and the value is rendered false.
The forum has some good sorts and some idiots. Get to know the good
ones and their ways, pick the wheat from the chaff and you will make
more money than you could from those vultures .
I only ever make a bold statement on a horse in this forum about a
dozen times a year, and that is when every bit of the jigsaw seems to
fit in my view. Happily for me, I am more often right than wrong. Some
of those in the forum are similar , some talk constant tosh! Its up to
you to find out. Good luck!!
Pringles
Oh dear.
Hopscotch
Have a bottle of cheap brandy confiscated by my missus on customs at
Gatwick and it will all make sense Pringle. Are you cheese and onion
flavour by any chance?
BARNEY21
I have a method of my own, not everyones cup of tea but after many
fruitless years in the main I have turned myself around and now do VERY
WELL out of it. It entails backing 3/4/5 runners per race odds
determining how many,as long as i achieve my perceived percentage, the
selection criteria is unchanging therefore it should continue to be
profitable and my longest losing run has been three days..
Dudeast
Pringles,
Why do you need to sell your tips? You can get as much on as you like, within reason, on here.
If you are successful long term why not keep all of the profits to
yourself? Or does the income from your subscribers cover the "barren"
patches?
Sorry if I am being naive here.
Pringles
Dudeast, good business sense that's why I do it. However I don't know
how much longer I will do it because of the pressure. Do I enjoy it? Not
really its a very difficult profession as it is without the added
pressure. My subs total about 68k a year income which helps with the tax
man etc etc. I have never let my subscribers down from a profits point
of view in twenty four months but I don't know how long I will be around
for. The pressure is immense!
Pringles
Dudeast, I think you're having a dig am I right?
Why would they cover my barren patches, I managed alllright before. Why
not pass on my information if it is good enough and make a few extra
quid?
I am not fleecing people because I'm good it's as simple as that. That
is why I dont need to advertise for new people because they have been
with me from the word go.
PAULBU
Unbelievable that nobody has mentioned the service that has given 15%
winners at an average price in excess of 9-1 for the past 8 years. It's
free as well.
Nicefourputt
I would rather be castrated then pay for a tipping service
Why do tipsters need subcribers? To offset their losses. End of story
St George
My experience with tipsters was real bad.....I cottoned on quick
though...every race I bet on their pick was raging favourite and in the
last few minutes too the off another horse was backed big at the track
and on the Nanny. I'm sure no coincidence...so I was being used with
many others to juice'n up there odds !!
